Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for European Affairs, Arbër Ademi PhD, today had a meeting with the newly appointed ambassador of the Republic of Greece in our country, H.E. Mr. Dimitris Yannakakis.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister Ademi congratulated Mr. Yannakakis his appointment as ambassador in our country and wished him a successful tenure.
Ademi stressed that the measures for confidence-building are an important step towards the promotion of good neighbourly relations and deepen the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, referring to the positive developments in recent years, marked by the visits of senior officials from both countries, as well as continuous high level technical meetings, hoping that the established practice of expert consultations on issues related to the EU will continue.
The good economic cooperation between the two countries, trade relations which show a positive tendency of development which are a good basis for further development and improvement of the overall economic relations and the intensive cross-border cooperation in many areas were welcomed at the meeting.
Regarding the current political situation in the country, Ademi addressed the situation in the country and stressed that it is important that the solution for all questions is achieved in a constructive and comprehensive manner and in accordance with the standards of the rule of law.
Both sides agreed that the integration of the Western Balkans countries is also in favour of Greece, in accordance with the Thessaloniki agenda and will contribute to strengthening of stability and economic prosperity of the region.
