Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for European Affairs, Arbr Ademi PhD, today had a meeting with H.E. Mr Jacek Stefan Multanowski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Macedonia.
At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ademi stressed that the European integration remains a key strategic priority and the only alternative for the future of the country that still has a high level of support from the citizens and also expressed gratitude to the Polish support for the Euro-Atlantic integration and their position that the enlargement will not be completed until all Western Balkans countries join the EU.
Regarding the current political situation in the country, during the conversation the interlocutors jointly agreed that at this point it is important to sort out all issues in a constructive and comprehensive manner and in accordance with the standards of the rule of law that all political leaders should put the national interests before the interests of the parties and to take steps to fulfil the obligations of political agreement in an inclusive and transparent manner, with a special focus on meeting the commitments of the urgent reform priorities.
The Ambassador Multanowski said that Poland is part of the group of friends of Macedonia and in that context, expressed readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation and further exchange of field experiences in the process of EU accession. As a positive example in this regard was emphasised the so-called "Skopje Conference" being held for many years, where Macedonian and Polish experts exchanged experiences on topics related to the process of European integration.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the implementation of the Twinning project for strengthening the organisational and institutional capacities for coordination of the European integration process, which is implemented by a consortium of three countries including Poland (besides Germany and Croatia). Therefore, the engagement and contribution of the Polish experts was highlighted.
