Deputy Prime Minister for
European Affairs, Bujar Osmani had a meeting with representatives from the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Federal Republic of Germany, Christian Hellbach
and Thomas Ossowski, who paid a working visit to our country.
"From the point of view
of the European integration, we have always considered Germany as our strategic
partner on which initiatives we find the motivation and prospects for our
success," said Osmani expressing enormous gratitude for continued support
from the Federal Republic of Germany for our efforts in meeting the
recommendations of the EU, as well as the overall activities of Germany in
support of the EU enlargement policy on the Western Balkan countries.
During the meeting Osmani
referred to the dynamics of the implementation of the reforms envisaged in Plan
18, thus pointing to the continuity of the reform process through concrete
progress in the key reform areas - the judiciary, security and intelligence
services, public administration reform and the fight against organised crime
and corruption, which will be the basis for this year's European Commission
Progress report, and at the same time he expressed confidence that quality will
be improved compared to last year's.
"In the period ahead, we
need support from all our friends within the Union to expand the European story
on the Balkans, and to eliminate European scepticism by confirming the decision
to start negotiations with the Republic of North Macedonia at the June summits
of the European Union," Osmani stated.
During the talk, the
interlocutors also referred to the German financial and bilateral development
assistance to North Macedonia, expressing mutual assurance that it will
continue further more intensified in all spheres of common interest.
