Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs
Bujar Osmani, in the role of NIPAC coordinator of foreign assistance in the
country, today chaired the preparatory meeting of the National Investment
Committee, where the priority lists of investment projects for financing by
major donors were reviewed. At the meeting were presented sectoral lists of
projects in transport, energy as priority within the framework of the Agenda
for connectivity or the so-called Connectivity agenda, but also the list of
environment, social policy and the new digital connectivity sector.
"We have exceptional success in securing
funds within the Connectivity agenda, for which many projects are already in an
active phase, but we must focus on the others, and by November 30, we will
prepare the priority list that we will present to donors and the International
Financial Institutions,"- said Osmani at the beginning of the meeting,
opening the discussion on the competent departments that represented the
priority projects within their competences. Osmani pointed out the sectors of
energy, transport and environment as key areas within the Connectivity Agenda,
which together with the social policy sector currently count about 100 projects
that are on the priority list.
Within the list there are projects such as the
reconstruction of the roadway Kriva Palanka - Deve Bair, the project for
preparation of the highway in the section Kicevo - Gostivar, the highway Skopje
- Blace, and many other projects.
The Western Balkans
Investment Framework (WBIF) Instrument was officially opened in 2009 as a joint
initiative of the European Commission, the Council of the European Development
Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European
Investment Bank (EIB) and later the World Bank and the German Development Bank
(KfW), approved by the European Council. Through this instrument, the Republic
of Macedonia has so far provided grants amounting over 112 million euros for
development projects, and in the future it is expected that the inflow of
donations through it will increase.
