During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the political situation in the country, especially the importance of organising fair and credible elections, whose results will be widely accepted, and thus the country will finally come out of the long political crisis and focus on the necessary reforms. Deputy Prime Minister Ademi stressed the importance of the continued support of the European Parliament for Macedonia ‘s accession process to the EU, and expressed hope that it will be reflected in the next European Parliament resolution on the country.
"We are aware that the country"s political crisis affected many segments, including the dynamics of EU-related reforms," said Ademi.
MEP Peterle reaffirmed the support for the EU integration of the countries from the region, including Macedonia, and pointed to the need to show concrete results in the reform process. He also stressed that the country has played a positive role in dealing with the migrant crisis.
