Deputy Prime Minister of the Government in charge of European Affairs, Arbr Ademi PhD, had his address on the conference "International agreements from the XIX to the XXI century and the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia", which was held today, 09.07.2016, in Skopje, hosted by the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
In his address, Deputy Prime Minister referred to the benefits of the European unification, as well as the importance of the continuation of the enlargement process by increasing with the countries from the region.
"Let me remind you of one part of last year's Enlargement Strategy of the European Commission, which confirms the importance of the enlargement process for the candidate countries and for the Union itself: "The EU enlargement policy is an investment in peace, security and stability in Europe. It allows for increased economic and trade opportunities for a mutual benefit of the EU and aspirant countries for membership. The EU membership perspective has strong transforming effect on the concerned countries, bringing positive democratic, political, economic and social changes", Ademi said.
Deputy Prime Minister Ademi reiterated that the country remains on the integration path, that being one of the main strategic commitments which was defined 25 years ago, since the independence of the Republic of Macedonia, and expressed confidence that in the forthcoming period, regardless of the challenges we face as a country, which is the case of the Union as well, will be paid due attention to the accelerated integration of the Western Balkan countries to the EU.
