Today Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia in charge of European Affairs, Arbr Ademi PhD had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Macedonia HE Mr Ylber Hysa.
Ambassador Hysa congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Ademi's appointment hoping to improve the mutual achievements so far, not only in terms of the integration process, but also in terms of bilateral and regional cooperation.
During the conversation they mutually concluded that Macedonia and Kosovo have friendly relations and excellent cooperation. As priorities of mutual interest remain further development of good neighbourly relations, intensified regional and multilateral cooperation and more efficient utilisation of the European funds for ongoing and new projects supported as further development of the economic cooperation.
As a positive example of the deepening of bilateral relations and strengthening economic cooperation, the interlocutors underlined the recent entry into force of the travel conditions for the citizens of both countries.
Deputy Prime Minister noted that the two countries share the same strategic priority- EU membership and that the EU perspective for the Western Balkans, including Macedonia and Kosovo, is the only guarantee of stability and prosperity in this part of Europe and that it is obligation for the candidate countries and the European Commission to keep the focus on the enlargement policy, and in this regard welcomed the EC's proposal for visa liberalisation with Kosovo.
Regarding the current political developments in the country, interlocutors stressed that after the decision of the Constitutional Court which allowed the return of the Assembly and the cancelled elections in the coming period, it is important to take steps to fully meet the obligations of the Political agreement in an inclusive and transparent manner with a special focus on meeting the commitments of the urgent reform priorities.
At the end of the meeting, they welcomed the holding of the upcoming Paris summit which is a continuation of the Berlin process and the Vienna Declaration and represents another confirmation of support for the enlargement because it is focused on economic development, connecting and youth and it is an excellent opportunity for future cooperation with the Western Balkans countries
