In order to continue the activities to achieve greater societal inclusion in the process of negotiations for the membership of North Macedonia in the European Union, a meeting was held today between the deputy chief negotiator of North Macedonia with the EU and the State Secretary, Mrs. Drita Abiu-Halili together with the Croatian expert on European integration hired through the Nordic support, Mr. Vladimir Drobnjak with representatives of civil society organizations working in the areas covered by the EU chapters.
Regarding the modality or form of civil sector involvement in the country's EU membership process, she said that it will be decided jointly, always keeping in mind the general interest and the construction of a functional structure that will contribute to the efficiency of the process.
- We need to prepare both for participation and for greater utilization and absorption of EU funds. This is particularly important in order to achieve the strengthening of the capacities of civil society organizations for the use of EU funds dedicated to civil society, and especially from the aspect of improving the partnership and cooperation between the state and the civil sector in this area, stated the deputy chief negotiator of North Macedonia with the EU, Abdiu-Halili.
The cooperation of the Secretariat for European Affairs and the civil sector will continue during the negotiation process. The event was implemented with the support from Nordic Support for the Progress of North Macedonia through UNOPS.
