The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bojan Maricik, together with the Serbian Minister of European Integration, Jadranka Joksimović, after the bilateral meeting, made statements in which they announced that the cooperation between North Macedonia and Serbia will be intensified in the European integration process, in anticipation of the start of North Macedonia's negotiations with the European Union and through new projects supported by European funds.
Joksimović stated that in the future the consultations with North Macedonia in the field of European integration will be intensified, because as he stated, the transfer of experiences and any assistance in the area of negotiations is in the interest of good neighbourly relations, as well as in the interest of accelerating reforms and progress of the citizens of both countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Maricik said that North Macedonia and Serbia have already shown a lot in reforms and solving difficult issues, and that this makes both countries a credible partner of the European Union, adding that he expects the countries of the region to be involved in solving the current and future crises related to energy supply, the supply of food and electricity.
Maricik and Joksimović stated that regional cooperation will continue even more intensively, as neighbours, all in the interest of economic prosperity, reducing the consequences of this difficult period.
- We also discussed numerous projects financed by the EU within the framework of the European Investment Plan for the Western Balkans, for the gas inter connector between Serbia and North Macedonia, which at this moment is of exceptional importance for the citizens, said Minister Joksimović.
AT the meeting they also discussed the importance of the start of negotiations between North Macedonia and the European Union, the challenges that the country may face in that process, the support and exchange of experiences that Serbia has, as a country that has been negotiating for 8 years, and the intensification of regional cooperation on the eve of the coming winter and joint action against the consequences of the energy and security crisis.
Deputy Prime Minister Maricik held this meeting as part of his visit to the first International Wine, Food and Tourism Fair "Wine Vision of the Open Balkans" in Belgrade, which is held from September 1-4.
