The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bojan Maricik, today had a bilateral meeting with the Serbian Minister of European Integration, Jadranka Joksimović, as part of his visit to the first International Wine, Food and Tourism Fair "Wine Vision of the Open Balkans" in Belgrade.
- We have a clear goal and despite all the challenges we have faced, we managed to keep the clear course of European integration. We are committed to the European path and responsibly we continue with the reform process for faster approach to EU membership, said Deputy Prime Minister Maricik, emphasizing that future cooperation can initiate new proposals, for which they will have to jointly act in regard to the European Union.
Minister Joksimović personally congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Maricik, as well as on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, for the opening of negotiations with the European Union and emphasized that this is very important for the stability and further development of the region.
- North Macedonia had to do a lot to fulfil that goal. If anyone understands that situation then it is Serbia, because we know what obstacles they have. And political and other requirements that did not facilitate the process at all, but made it more difficult and prolonged, Joksimović said.
Joksimović offered Deputy Prime Minister Maricik help in the European integration process, because Serbia has practical experience in negotiations with the EU and is the first country that started opening Clusters according to the new methodology, with new structures and new rules for negotiations, and to formalise it as soon as possible by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation in the area of European integration.
