The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bojan Mariciк, today had a meeting with the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council, Majlinda Bregu.
Regional cooperation in the context of the European future of the countries in the region, with a special focus on the progress of the Republic of North Macedonia, the implementation of European reforms and the country's approach to European standards on the road to full membership in the Union were among the topics opened by Maricik and Bregu at the meeting.
In this regard, the two agreed that it is time to see the fruits of the dedicated work and efforts of the Government to resolve serious issues through friendly dialogue, which have contributed to strengthening the stability of the region. Maricik and Bregu stressed that the future of the region is in the EU and any delay in the start of negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania reduces the trust of citizens above all.
Secretary-General Bregu pointed out that all the Council's activities are aimed at the prosperity of the region through the connection of the Western Balkan countries and enhanced regional cooperation, despite the dose of uncertainty caused by the military conflict in Ukraine.
Deputy Prime Minister Maricik and Secretary General Bregu discussed the possibilities for enhancing cooperation through specific new projects with the Regional Cooperation Council, in accordance with the planned priorities in this period for the implementation of European reforms.
