OSMANI AND SALIJI GATHERED THE JUDICIARY OFIICIALS ON A WORKING MEETING FOR THE PLAN 3-6-9

Today, in the premises of the Club of Parliamentarians, the Secretariat for European Affairs and the Ministry of Justice organised a working meeting on the implementation of the reforms from Plan 3-6-9 that are related to the judiciary. The meeting was moderated by the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European affairs, Bujar Osmani, as coordinator of the implementation of Plan 3-6-9, as well as the Minister of justice, Bilen Saliji, in charge of judicial reforms. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the institutions which are in charge of the measures for the judiciary provided for in Plan 3-6-9.
"An efficient, professional, impartial judiciary is one of the basic preconditions in the part of the Political criteria for Macedonia"s membership in the European Union. But equal justice for all, trial without influence, judges of high integrity and professionalism, trial within a reasonable time or an efficient judiciary are also a basic precondition for the civilization development of our society, "stated Bujar Osmani at the beginning of the meeting. He added that out of 73 measures, divided into 11 thematic areas in Plan 3-6-9, even 13 reforms are in the justice sector, which shows the priority of the judicial reforms.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that social consensus on the content of Plan 3-6-9 is already provided, as well as support from the international partners, adding that it is time for enhanced implementation of the Plan. "The aim of today"s working meeting is to provide consensus on the implementation of the anticipated measures in the judiciary that arise as an obligation from Plan 3-6-9, as well as coordination, oversight and information on the implementation of reforms," Osmani added.
The Minister of justice Bilen Saliji also addressed at the meeting, explaining that the reforms in the judiciary provided in Plan 3-6-9 arise from the remarks and recommendations of the European Commission, the Venice Commission, GRECO and the expert group led by Mr. Reinhard Priebe, but also numerous other guidelines and indications in all other reports of relevant international organizations. "Regarding the measures envisaged in this Plan, I would particularly like to emphasize the adoption of the Strategy for Judicial Sector Reform as a significant document, which will give a complete and clear message for conducting essential reforms in this area, in accordance with the recommendations of the The European Commission and the Venice Commission, " stated Saliji. He added that for this purpose, there is a working group in the Ministry of Justice, composed of representatives of the judiciary, professors and representatives of the Ministry of Justice. The Minister expets that they present a draft version of the Strategy by the middle September at latest.
ThePresident of the Judicial Council, Zoran Karadzovski, the President of the Council of Public Prosecutors, Petar Anevski, as well as other representatives of the judicial institutions took part at the working meeting.
