EU Breakfast

On the occasion of the Europe Day, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Arbër Ademi today held the traditional EU breakfast with the ambassadors of the EU member states, his colleagues, former deputy prime ministers and international partners. Deputy Prime Minister Ademi and the EU Ambassador to Skopje Samuel Zbogar addressed at the beginning.
Both speakers stressed that this year the EU celebrates the 60th anniversary of the signing of Treaties of Rome. A historical event that provided formation of a strong and influential Union, in which foundation are built the modern democratic values.
"I sincerely hope that the challenges the European Union is facing today will not jeopardize the perspective of our region and the Republic of Macedonia. Therefore, we expect the Western Balkans countries will be part of the discussion of the Member States on the EU"s future "-stated Ademi in his address.
Deputy Prime Minister in his speech referred to the turbulent past two years the country has suffered and the current political situation. He condemned the attacks in the Parliament and characterised them as an attack on democracy, violation of the democratic principles and endangering human lives. He thanked for the reaction of the international strategic partners and friends and their sincere support for dealing with this deep crisis.
"In these times, for us and for the reforms, the most important thing is to keep the EU"s door open. Our strategic goal remains EU and NATO membership and do not consider any other alternative. Therefore we should all work together towards that goal "- stressed Ademi.
