Meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Ademi with the awarded Roma NGOs for Roma integration

Deputy Prime
Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Arbr Ademi PhD, today had a meeting with
the two rewarded Roma civil organisations by the European Commission within the
call for second award for the integration of Roma in the Western Balkans and
Turkey.
Within the call of
the European Commission for second prize for Roma integration, the first prize
in the Republic of Macedonia was awarded to the NGO Roma Resource Centre
project "tutoring support for Roma students in primary education in the
Republic of Macedonia," while the second award, Commissioner Hahn awarded
to Roma regional regional youth educational association within the project
"AIDS does not know how to discriminate, protect yourself".
At the meeting,
Deputy Prime Minister, on behalf of the Government congratulated the prizes won
on the implementation of projects for inclusion and integration of Roma
children and young people.
"The government
remains committed to protect and promote the rights of Roma, considering
marginalisation and prejudice not only a problem of the Roma community, but
rather direct threats to democracy and the fundamental values on which is built
the entire system to protect human rights and freedoms ", Ademi said.
At the meeting it
was reiterated that SEA remains open to cooperation with civil society and to
support all activities that are important for the process of European
integration. Also he stressed the possibility of support through IPA funds.
"All of us, together in the future should place high on the agenda the
implementation of ongoing projects targeting the Roma population, as well as
giving priority to improving the situation of Roma in the programming of
foreign assistance given the importance of the integration and inclusion of
ethnic communities as important issues for our European integration", he
pointed out.
The prizes are
awarded to the contribution and work of civil society to support social
inclusion of Roma in the Western Balkans and Turkey.
Any intrusion and misuse of the SEA website is punishable under Article 251 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of North Macedonia.
