State Secretary in the Secretariat for European Affairs Ms. Anna Blazeska paid a working visit to Brussels. During the visit Ms Blazeska had several meetings with senior representatives of the European institutions.
During her visit, the State Secretary Blazheska had a meeting with the new Director of Western Balkans within the European Commission, Genoveva Ruiz Calavera, who undertook the leader position in this Directorate on 1.6.2016. At the meeting they discussed the challenges we face as a country, the reform process, as well as the measures to be implemented within the Berlin process. The following summit on Western Balkans which will be held in Paris was also discussed.
In Brussels Blasheska also had a meeting with the reporter for Macedonia in the European Parliament, Mr. Ivo Vajgl, and they reviewed the activities implemented in order to fulfil the anticipated measures of the Action Plan for implementation of the urgent reform priorities. It was stressed that the focus in the coming period must be on reforms and measures to be implemented by the Republic of Macedonia, in order to start negotiations.
Ms Blazeska met with Director of Strategy Directorate General of Internal Affairs and Migration, Mrs. Martha Sigal and they discussed the current migrant crisis and the challenges Republic of Macedonia is facing following the closure of so- called Balkan route, as well as with the Director Filip Majcen in the Directorate General for translation, where they discussed the process of preparation of the national version of the acquis.
During the visit the State Secretary Blazheska had a meeting with acting director of the Robert Schuman Institute, Mr. Gabor Berceli within which they discussed the current political situation in the country as well as opportunities and approaches to establish mutual cooperation.
Also during the visit was signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the College of Europe, which is a good basis for further development of cooperation with this reputable educational institution aimed at strengthening the capacities of accession.
