The Deputy President for European Affairs and Chief Negotiator with the European Union, Bojan Maricik, after the end of the first part of the bilateral meeting on Chapter 5, "Public Procurement" within Cluster 1, "Fundamental Values", stated that the Macedonian negotiating team had an excellent start to the bilateral screening, with clear and well-prepared presentations, recognized by the European Commission.
The full text of the statement from Brussels below:
"Today we are very pleased to start the first meeting of the bilateral screening, this time for the chapter "Public Procurement", within the cluster "Fundamental Values".
We had an excellent start to the bilateral screening, with very clear and precise, concise presentations from our side, which were praised and recognized by the experts of the European Commission.
In addition to the detailed presentations we made in the field of the legal and institutional framework for Public Procurement of the Republic of North Macedonia, we also answered the questions of the Commission and showed a high level of preparedness.
This is an incentive for us to move on and complete the screening meetings as quickly and as successfully as possible. It will give us a complete picture of how successful we are, where we still have a lot of work to do, and in what time frame we can conclude the negotiations.
- We have a lot of energy, we have a lot of knowledge and we are working hard to reach the set goal - membership in the European Union by 2030, says the Vice Prime Minister for European Affairs and chief negotiator with the EU, Maricik.
Bilateral screening started today in Brussels with the meeting for Chapter 5, "Public Procurement", and the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs and Chief Negotiator with the European Union, Bojan Maricik, will lead the Macedonian negotiating team.
Deputy negotiator and State Secretary Drita Abdiu-Halili and Zulfi Ismaili, ambassador in the Permanent Mission of North Macedonia to the EU based in Brussels, are also attending the first meeting of the bilateral screening.
The members of the Working Group for Chapter 5, at the bilateral screening meeting, presented to the experts from the European Commission the Macedonian legislative framework and the level of compliance with EU law in this chapter of the negotiation process.
