The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European affairs, Bojan Maricik, announced at today's press conference the first screening Report for the "Fundamentals" Cluster, which the country, according to the announcements from Brussels, expects in the first quarter of 2023.
At the same time, he informed that three roadmaps should be prepared for this Cluster, which should reflect the political commitment to implement key strategic reforms by defining short-term and medium-term goals, namely: Roadmap for the rule of law, Roadmap for the functioning of democratic institutions, which will not be a determinant for the opening of the Cluster and Roadmap for the reform of public administration, which will also be a determinant for the opening of the Cluster and which should focus on building a professional administration in the service of the citizens and strengthening of the administrative capacities for the implementation of laws and policies that are in line with European standards.
- In addition, within the framework of the Roadmap for the rule of law - an Action Plan for the protection of the rights of members of minorities and communities with measures for non-discrimination, fight against hate speech and education will have to be prepared, said Maricik.

Deputy Prime Minister Maricik also presented the time frame in which the explanatory screening according to chapters is expected to be carried out together with the bilateral screening. The calendar of meetings is defined by the European Commission, and based on what was presented to them at the opening meeting of the screening, as a principled calendar of the EC (which may undergo some changes), it can be seen that a dynamic period will await us, with considering that the process of presenting the new legislation starts from September this year, and the bilateral screening will take place in a parallel period of about 15 months, that is, the European Commission plans to finish this process by November 2023.
