The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov today had a meeting with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Gabriel Escobar, who is paying a working visit to North Macedonia.
The European perspective of North Macedonia and the region as a common strategic goal was discussed at the meeting, as well as the current situation in that context.
Deputy Prime Minister Dimitrov thanked the United States for the continued US support for the country's European integration, partnership and alliance in addressing global challenges, expressing common values.
Dimitrov: "We share the same vision for the future of North Macedonia and the region and the support of the USA as our partners and allies has always been the driver of the process. The start of the accession negotiations with North Macedonia will mark the completion of a chapter in fulfilling the common strategic goal and creating a new momentum for the European future of the region as a guarantor of stability and democracy. y overcoming the current challenges, we will be able to focus on promoting shared values and deepening the partnership in that regard."
Deputy Assistant Escobar highlighted the commitment of North Macedonia as a NATO ally in ensuring regional security and promoting Euro-Atlantic values, while stressing the importance of the Prespa Agreement as a pillar of peace and security in the region. He pointed out that the leadership and the efforts in the reform process shown should be validated with the deserved progress in the European integration of the country, by adopting the negotiating framework and holding the first intergovernmental conference in the negotiation process.
