At an invitation of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs today participated at the regional conference "A Renewed Narrative for Accelerated EU integration", as a speaker at the panel "The Future of the EU: What direction is Europe moving in 2021?".
Deputy Prime Minister Dimitrov referred to North Macedonia's commitments for integration into the European Union, including the invested political capital based on the European promise.
Dimitrov: "No single European country is strong enough to deal with modern challenges, the only way is the European project to unite the continent that without this region - the Western Balkans, will always be incomplete and unfinished. North Macedonia is a story of hope for this project, so our our (lack of) success will be (lack of) success for EU as well, if the EU is a force that pulls for good. We have responded to very strict conditions, it is time to get a fair validation, if the EU is a community of values."
European politicians and young liberals addressed at the panel, including MEP Ilhan Kucuk, Austrian MP Helmut Brandstätter and French MP Liliana Tangi (via video conference), who sent a message that the European project must deliver success through the European Macedonian dossier.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Dimitrov had a meeting with MEP Kucuk, where they discussed current issues related to Macedonian-Bulgarian relations, and he had a brief conversation with Slovenian Minister of Economic Development and Technology Zdravko Počivalšek, regarding the deepening of economic cooperation and friendly bilateral relations.
