During his working visit to Italy, the Deputy Prime
Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani, had a meeting with the
President of the Committee on Relations with the Western Balkans in the Italian
Senate, Luciano D`alfonso.
"Rapid ratification of the protocol will be a
significant impetus for the overall integration processes in the country, as
well as an additional chance to achieve the ambition to complete this process
within the London Summit in early December," Osmani said, pointing out the
importance of these processes, not only for the country, but for the whole
region as well.
At the meeting Osmani received from D`alfonso the
assurance that the NATO protocol will be put at the next plenary session agenda
of the Senate, which is expected next week, thus giving the Republic of North
Macedonia a formal green light from Italy to join the Euro-Atlantic Alliance.
During his visit to Italy, Osmani will also have a
meeting with the Minister of European Affairs of the Republic of Italy,
Vincenzo Ammendola, to discuss the European perspectives of the Republic of
North Macedonia, and the support of the Republic of Italy in anticipation of
the decision to open accession negotiations at the EU summit next week.
The visit to Italy is part of Deputy Prime Minister
Osmani's European tour to visit European capitals ahead of next week October EU
Council meeting.
