OSMANI: IN A WEEK THE BUNDESTAG WILL GIVE GREEN LIGHT FOR START OF NEGOTIATIONS WITH NORTH MACEDONIA
14:40, Thursday, September 19, 2019

During his working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani had a meeting with the German State Minister for Europe and representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to the EU, Michael Roth.

"I come just one week before the Bundestag session when the support for the European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia will be on the agenda, to convey the government's gratitude for your unselfish efforts to provide my country a green light for the start of negotiations," Osmani stated, expressing his personal gratitude to Minister Roth for his friendly attitude and his personal contribution to the success of the European integration of the country.

Osmani informed the Minister for the latest developments in the country, while expressing his conviction to Mr. Roth for the persistence and commitment of the Government in removing all formal and informal remarks that may jeopardize the October decision. "We have made progress in all the areas noted by the European Council, and we consistently achieve solid 'track record', successful implementation of the reforms adopted," Osmani stated.

Osmani received confirmation from Minister Roth that the German government fully supports the country's European integration, and that it will stand firm during the Bundestag session in defence of the government's position for start of negotiations with the Republic of North Macedonia in October.

From Berlin, Osmani travels directly to Warsaw, where he will have meetings with the Polish State Secretary for European Affairs Konrad Szymanski and with the Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz. The visits to Berlin and Warsaw are part of Deputy Prime Minister Osmani's European tour to visit European capitals ahead of October's EU Council meetings.
