Osmani: The start of negotiations means support from all member states, for which we expect support from our friend Hungary
15:08, Monday, May 27, 2019

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, during the working visit to the Republic of Hungary, had a meeting with Mr. Szabolcs Takács, Minister of State for European Affairs at the Office of the Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and a representative of the Republic of Hungary in the European Union.

"As a country we have an unambiguous confirmation of the progress made and according to the political and reform criteria, which will certainly be reflected in the content of the forthcoming European Commission Report," Osmani said, expressing confidence that the Commission in its Report will point out that the Republic of Northern Macedonia is essentially ready to start negotiations with the European Union.

"The continuous  support of the Republic of Hungary for the European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia is an important element embedded in today's success of our country, and as long-time friends, we look forward to this support in anticipation of the upcoming summits of the European Union," Osmani stated, thus pointing out that the expectations in North Macedonia, as well as in the whole region of the Western Balkans, are that at the upcoming summits the European Council will confirm the last year's  decision to start the negotiations with the EU.

Osmani continues his working visit on a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, where in addition to the European integration of the country, the topics for bilateral relations, bilateral support, as well as the overall cooperation between the two countries will be opened.

After Hungary, Osmani continues to a working visit to Croatia, to meet the Foreign and European Affairs Minister Marija Pejcinovic Buric, and he will also have a meeting with the Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs in the Croatian Parliament, Domagoj Ivan Milosevic.
